Amazon is going to have a Tablet
The rumor mill has been churning out some stories about something I’ve been saying for months has got to be coming and that’s Amazon’s going to build a tablet. Because on the internet content is King and Amazon has it’s fill of it.
So it breaks down like this: (not counting computers) just post-pc devices
Apple
Content: iTunes Music, iTunes Movies, iBooks, AppStore
Devices: iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, AppleTV
Content: Android Market Place with Apps, eBooks, Movies and soon Music
Devices: Android Phones/Tablets, GoogleTV in the summer
Amazon
Content: Amazon AppStore for Android, Kindle Books, Amazon VOD, Amazon MP3 store
Devices: None with their brand, but can be used on Android Devices Phones/Tablets and Kindle Books and MP3 can be consumed on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad
Sources are saying that there isn’t just 1 Amazon tablet in the works but 2, one code named Coyote which will run the Nvidia’s dual-core Tegra 2 mobile platform which is what’s in the current line of, what i’ll say high-quality Android tablets (the ones with Honeycomb loaded up) and the 2nd codenamed Hollywood and I like the name of their quad-core chip, the “Kal-El” and you know you’re a super nerd if you know who that is.
So we’ll see if that really happens towards the second half of 2011.
